Croatia: Brodosplit to Build LNG Container Vessels

Brodosplit of Croatia said it has signed a contract for the construction of two multipurpose container vessels that will use LNG as fuel.

These container vessels will be equipped with low speed 2 stroke “dual fuel” (LNG/HFO) engines that will operate on either fuel oil or LNG, which will significantly decrease emissions while increasing fuel efficiency as compared to conventionally-powered ships.

The engines will be made by the Brodosplit diesel engine factory, under the license of MAN. Also, Brodosplit will produce special tanks in which LNG will be stored.
