Cuadrilla likely to get second shale gas environmental nod

The Environment Agency will likely grant Cuadrilla the environmental permits for its proposed shale gas exploration site at Roseacre Wood.

The decision is subject to a final round of consultation that runs until January 6.

Francis Egan, CEO of Cuadrilla, said, “We welcome the announcement by the Environment Agency that it is minded to approve our permits for our proposed exploration site at Roseacre Wood following the ‘minded to grant’ statement the Agency issued a few weeks ago for our other proposed site at Preston New Road.”

The decision, following a robust and rigorous review of the company’s permit applications, demonstrates that, as Cuadrilla has committed, the local environment will be well protected throughout the proposed exploratory operations, concluded Egan.
