Deep Drilling 1: Jack-up trio bags 11 years worth of drilling contracts in UAE

Offshore Drilling company Deep Drilling 1, an affiliate of India’s Aban Offshore, has received a letter of award to deploy three offshore drilling rigs in the United Arab Emirates.

In a statement on Thursday, the driller said the contracts were for three jack-up units owned by its affiliate company.

Two rigs have been hired on firm contracts of four years each. The third jack-up rig is for a firm period of three years and an optional period of two years.

According to Deep Drilling 1, based in Singapore, two jack-up rigs are expected to be deployed in the fourth quarter of 2018. The third jack-up rig will follow int he first quarter of 2019.

The driller did not provide any further info on the client nor on the dayrates secured for the rigs.

Thursday’s announcement follows a recent news that another Deep Drilling 1 affiliate has earlier in July won a contract with ONGC in India a firm period of two years. The rig is expected to be deployed in the fourth quarter of 2018.
