Ecological Surveys Scheduled for Irish Offshore Wind Project

A series of ecological surveys are set to be carried out at the site of the Dublin Array offshore wind project in Ireland.

According to the Irish Department of Transport, Tourism and Sport, the surveys will be conducted between June this year and May 2020 off the Dublin and Wicklow coast to provide data on seabirds and marine mammal species.

The work is weather dependent, but a survey will take place each calendar month commencing from 24 June, with a second survey during August and September.

Each survey is expected to be completed over a period of two days and will be undertaken in daylight hours. Vessels RV Keary, AMS Panther and AMS Husky will be doing the work.

Dublin Array is being developed on the Kish and Bray Banks in the Irish Sea at a project site located 10km offshore. The project, owned by innogy and Saorgus Energy, has a potential capacity of at least 600MW.
