The company said its profit for the first six months of the year reached €776 million ($867.9 million), which compares to €752 million in the corresponding period last year.

Endesa noted in its statement the results are boosted by the “effective management” of its free market business.

The results have been hampered by the challenging electricity and gas market, with Endesa’s natural gas sales dropping 9.4 percent to 39.2 TWh from 43.3 TWh in the first six months of 2018.

The company’s revenue edged down 1 percent to €9.8 billion ($10.9 billion) from €9.9 billion in the corresponding period in 2018.
