FERC issues tolling order on Jordan Cove LNG rehearing request

Calgary-based Veresen on Monday said it has been notified by the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission that an order granting rehearing for further consideration has been issued.

FERC issued the order in regards to the request for rehearing submitted Jordan Cove Energy Project and Pacific Connector Gas Pipeline following the commission’s decision to deny the two applications.

However, following its preliminary deals for at least 3 mtpa of natural gas liquefaction capacity at Jordan Cove LNG facility with Jera and Itochu, Veresen’s units filed a request for rehearing in April.

The latest order, referred to as a tolling order, is granted by FERC for the limited purpose of noting that rehearing has been timely requested and allowing itself more time than the 30-day statutory period to consider the merits of such requests for rehearing.

Once the 30-day period expires FERC will issue an order denying or granting the two requests for rehearing.
