According to ST3 Offshore, the barge is expected to arrive at Cuxhaven by the end of the week, weather permitting, where the jackets will be fitted with the suction buckets.

ST3 Offshore is in charge of producing and assembling 20 jacket foundations for the wind farm, with the Belfast-based Harland and Wolff (H&W) supplying the suction buckets.

Northern Ireland’s marine manufacturer fabricated and exported the first 24 suction buckets earlier this month.

Located 54km off the coast of Lower Saxony in Germany, next to Borkum Riffgrund 1, the 450MW Borkum Riffgrund 2 will comprise 56 MHI Vestas 8MW turbines, expected to be fully commissioned in 2019.

In August last year, Ørsted sold 50% of the wind farm to Global Infrastructure Partners (GIP).
