Forewind Submits Application for 2.4 GW Dogger Bank Teesside A&B

Forewind submitted its development consent order application for the 2.4 GW Dogger Bank Teesside A&B offshore wind energy proposal to the Planning Inspectorate today.

The single application for the development of two offshore wind farms, each with an installed capacity of up to 1.2 gigawatts (GW), was submitted after almost four years of offshore and onshore surveys and research work, reporting and stakeholder consultation.

It is the second development consent order application Forewind has submitted for the Dogger Bank Zone, the first being for the 2.4 GW Dogger Bank Creyke Beck project which is currently in the formal examination phase.

The Planning Inspectorate will have a month to decide whether or not to accept the application and move the proposal into the pre-examination phase.

The application is for Dogger Bank Teesside A, which is 560km2 and 196 kilomteres from shore at its closest point, and Dogger Bank Teesside B, which is 593km2 and is 165km from shore at its closest point. Both will connect into the national grid at an existing substation in Redcar and Cleveland, Teesside.
