Freeport LNG requests Train 4 pre-filing initiation

Freeport LNG requested that the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission starts the pre-filing review process for the proposed expansion of its export project on Quintana Island, Texas. 

Freeport LNG proposed to add the fourth liquefaction train with a production capacity of approximately 5.1 million tons per annum of liquefied natural gas and supporting utility and auxiliary facilities and infrastructure, stands in the request.

Freeport LNG anticipates filing an application seeking authorization under Section 3 of the Natural Gas Act no later than December 2015, and will request that FERC issues an order authorizing the siting, construction, and operation of the Train 4 project by no later than September 2016.

Freeport LNG informed in its filing that it anticipates requesting authorization to commence construction by November 2016 and anticipates a construction schedule of approximately 38 months for completion and startup of the Train 4 project, with the startup of Train 4 expected in January 2020.
