GAC: Saleef Port Operations Unaffected by Airstrikes

Operations at the port of Saleef, the second most vital port in Yemen, are continuing as scheduled, unaffected by airstrikes on a military base in the region, GAC informed.

The attacks were launched on Thursday, April 30th on a military base that is far from al-Saleef port, situated northwest of the al-Hodeida province.

“Saleef port is still running as normal at Security Level 1. All discharging operations are going well without any stoppages or disruption. Large number of vessels are calling at the port,” GAC said.

The country is struggling to import food as ships stay anchored at sea for days before being allowed to dock and unload cargo. Yemen imports 90% of its foodstuffs.

Navigation in Yemen’s territorial waters has been banned and ships are not allowed into Yemen unless inspected and approved by the Saudi-led coalition forces, as announced by Yemen’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Armed clashes between Houthi rebels and Saudi-lead coalition, including airstrikes, continue as both sides push for control over Aden.
