Gallery: Anadarko upends Heidelberg truss spar

Anadarko Petroleum, an independent oil and gas exploration and production company, has recently completed the upending of its massive Heidelberg floating truss spar in 5,300 feet of water off the coast of Louisiana.

Anadarko’s 23,000-ton Heidelberg floating spar headed to its offshore location in Green Canyon block 860 in the deepwater Gulf of Mexico in June 2015.

The truss spar was built and delivered to Anadarko by Technip in Finland in February 2015.

Heidelberg is the second of Anadarko’s “Design One, Build Two” concept being deployed in the Gulf of Mexico. Heidelberg’s twin spar, Lucius, began production in January of this year, three years after it was sanctioned. According to Anadarko, Heidelberg is expected to achieve first oil in 2016.
