Gazprom advocates use of LNG, CNG as fuel

Gazprom Transgaz Ekaterinburg is clearing the way for the use of LNG and CNG as fuel for vehicles. 

The company intends to implement advanced LNG and CNG technology throughout out Russia and use vast natural gas resources as fuel.

Valery Golubev of Gazprom said the priority is on creating LNG producing infrastructure noting that about $1.62 billion will be used through 2020 for promotion of natural gas as motor fuel.

Golubev added that close to $950 million of the funds will be used to build service and fueling infrastructure, subsidize vehicle purchases and further progress of natural gas as fuel.
