Gazprom interested in four offshore gas fields in Iran

Russia’s Gazprom is interested in developing Iran’s offshore gas fields in the Persian Gulf.

According to the Iranian news agency, Shana, Iranian Minister of Petroleum Bijan Zangeneh said on Saturday night: “Iran has signed memoranda of understanding (MoUs) with Gazprom for carrying out studies on development projects of Farzad A, Farzad B, North Pars and Kish gas fields and the Russian company has signaled keenness to develop the fields.”

Farzad-A gas field in Farsi block is located about 100 kilometers off the Persian Gulf coastline, 120 kilometers off Bushehr port and straddles the Iran Saudi Arabia border. North Pars gas field, in Persian Gulf, is located about 120 kilometers southeast of Bushehr and near the coastline.

As for the Kish gas field, also in the Persian gulf, this is the second biggest gas field in the Persian Gulf after the South Pars oil and gas field.

To remind, a Gazprom delegation paid a working visit to Iran in December 2017, when the parties signed, among others, a Memorandum of Understanding for hydrocarbon prospecting, exploration and production within Iran.
