GDF SUEZ Gas NA Appoints Robert Wilson as CEO

GDF SUEZ Gas NA, the owner and operator of the LNG receiving terminal in Everett, Massachusetts, announced that Robert (Bob) Wilson has been named its new President and Chief Executive Officer. Wilson succeeds Claiborne (Clay) Harris, who is retiring from the company.

Wilson has more than 25 years of experience in the natural gas and power industries, most recently as President and CEO of GDF SUEZ Energy Resources NA (GSERNA), an affiliated company that provides retail electricity services to small and large commercial, industrial, and institutional customers.

In his 16 years with GDF SUEZ, Wilson has engaged in a broad range of activities, including the establishment of the company’s North American commodity trading, marketing, and risk management activities. In addition, he managed international energy commodity projects and merger and acquisition activities for the Group principally in Northern Europe and North America. He later oversaw sales, supply, and shipping arrangements for the company’s liquefied natural gas operation in New England. Wilson also served as Head of Strategy, Risk, and Portfolio Management, and Chief Business Developer for GDF SUEZ Energy North America.

“I look forward to returning to the natural gas business and capturing new opportunities for LNG,” said Wilson. “It is an exciting time for the industry, as the economics and the environmental benefits of natural gas are opening new markets like never before.”

“Bob’s broad understanding of the energy industry makes him extremely well qualified for this position,” said Zin Smati, President and CEO of IPR-GDF SUEZ North America. “He is experienced in many key areas within both the natural gas and retail energy industries, and I am confident that he will move the business forward and build on our past successes.”
