Heesen Floats Out 50m ‘Crazy Me’

Heesen Floats Out 50m 'Crazy Me'

YN 16250, a 50m all-aluminium, semi-displacement motor yacht was recently launched at the Heesen facility in Oss. She was christened Crazy Me during a private ceremony followed by a party thrown by the owners to celebrate the fine craftsmanship and hard work of the team of Heesen staff and subcontractors who created this unique vessel.

Crazy Me is a very special yacht; the credit for her conception must first go to her visionary owner, who pushed the boundaries of creativity and design. The owner appointed Gary Grant to design the radical exterior lines of his new superyacht: His eye for detail when collaborating with the Exterior Designer has been instrumental in achieving the clean, pure lines that form the unique profile with its distinctive “swoosh” line from bow to stern that will make this vessel highly recognizable at sea.

One of the most striking elements of this design is the use of Formed glass, another Gary Grant Design signature. As well as looking great, it is very strong, effective at sound insulation and the low-reflective surface provides excellent visibility.

Perhaps the craziest area of Crazy Me is located on the sundeck that houses a huge custom glass-bottomed pool which allows light to dapple the main deck aft seating area below. There’s also an incredible music system pioneered by the owner, with a fully customized speaker supplier brand new to yachting.

Crazy Me will undergo sea trials in the North Sea and delivery to her owners is due in June 2013.
