 IHI E&C names LNG veteran as Dominion Cove Point project director

LNG engineer IHI E&C named Robert Etheridge as project director for the Dominion Cove Point LNG export project.

In this role, Robert will work as the company’s senior site representative on the Cove Point project with a focus on completions, commissioning and engineering closeout, according to IHI E&C’s statement.

Etheridge has more than 37 years of experience in project management, engineering and is experienced in the planning and execution of large scale construction projects.

His experience includes work on three LNG terminal projects, eight LNG liquefaction plants, three LNG upstream projects, three ammonia/urea projects, a Fluid Catalytic Converter Unit (FCCU) revamp, a Residual Catalytic Cracking Unit (RCCU) rebuild, one ethylene plant and three refinery expansions.

He joins IHI E&C from the Clough AMEC joint venture in Brisbane, Australia, where he worked as a construction director for the Bowen Gas project. Prior to that, he worked for Chicago Bridge & Iron (CB&I) in Perth as construction director and for Clough Limited as project manager on both the GLNG upstream project and the C1 upstream infrastructure project for PNG LNG. He also worked previously as Senior Manager of Projects for Cheniere Energy.

Etheridge began his career as a construction engineer for Kellogg, Brown & Root (KBR) where he held various positions over 28 years.

During his time at KBR, he worked on a multitude of projects spanning the globe, including the Petronas MLNG Tiga plant project in Malaysia, the RasGas LNG project in Qatar and projects in Trinidad and Uruguay.
