First Phase of Kish Gas Field to Become Operational Next Year

The first phase of Kish gas field with the aim of early production will come online next Iranian calendar year that begins 20 March, managing director of the National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC), Ahamd Qalebani announced here.

“The Kish gas field is one of the most important NIOC’s projects,” he said, adding that “even though the field is an independent one but we are planning to make it operational on time in order to boost the country’s gas production capacity.”

Qalebani said that the Kish gas field not only has the potential to meet domestic needs but its gas could be exported to other countries, Iran’s SHANA news agency reported.

He said the gas field is estimated to hold some 66 trillion cubic feet of in-situ natural gas reserves and 514 million barrels of gas condensates.

Preliminary studies show gas output from the field will be 3 to 5 billion cubic feet (bcf) per day.
