Iran: Gas Exports to Iraq to Start in 2014

Operations to build a gas pipeline from Iran to Iraq will be completed in 2014, Iranian minister of petroleum, Rostam Qasemi announced.

He said that in addition to the agreement signed for the export of gas to Pakistan and Iraq, the permission for transporting gas to Europe via Turkey had been issued, Iran’s SHANA news agency reported.

Last year, the oil ministers of Iran, Iraq and Syria signed an agreement to construct a pipeline that transfers natural gas from Iran to Europe.

Under the deal, Iran to export 25 million cubic meters of gas from the Western province of Ilam to the al-mansoureh and Baghdad power plants for fuel.
