Iran: IGAT-6 BOT deal signed

Iran’s Gas Engineering and Development Company said it has signed a build-operate-transfer contract with Pasargad Energy Development Company for completion of Iran Gas Trunkline-6 aiming to deliver Iranian gas to Iraq.

The contract includes building 590 kilometers of pipeline up to the border with Iraq in addition to five gas compressor stations on its way in two years, the company said in a statement.

The construction of the second section of the pipeline would be also of help in sustained gas delivery to western and northwestern Iran, said IGEDC managing director Ali-Reza Gharibi.

The project is estimated to cost $2.3 billion, and is among the top priorities of IGEDC in the current calendar year to March 2016, said the official.

Some 620 kilometers of the 6th cross-country gas pipeline, extending from Assalouyeh to Ahwaz in southwest of the country has already come on stream, Gharibi added.
