Iran Inaugurates NGL Plant

Iran’s President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has inaugurated the largest associated petroleum gas (APG) plant in the Persian Gulf, built on the southern Iranian island of Siri to produce condensate and gather associated gas.

Addressing the inauguration ceremony of the largest associated petroleum gas (APG) plant in the Persian Gulf island of Siri, Iran’s Oil Minister Rostam Qasemi said the development and completion of these projects were the main priority of Iran’s oil industry.

The main objectives of the Sirri NGL are exploitation of natural-gas condensate and collection of associated gases, as well as environment improvement, job creation and economic development in the region, Iran’s SHANA news agency reported.

Another objective of the project is preventing 40 million cubic meters of associated petroleum gas from being burned in flares.

Qasemi added that, the facility has the capacity to collect associated gases for changing it into light gas as feedstock for petrochemical plants.
