Installation of Last Jacket on South Pars Phases 20, 21 Started

The installation of the second and the last platform jacket for South Pars Phases 20 and 21 Development Project started in Iran’s territorial waters in Persian Gulf.

Upon the successful completion of the construction and erection of the jacket for South Pars Joint Field Phase 21, the second platform jacket of the project, manufactured by the Iranian engineers, entered the erection and operation phases in the drilling site of this part of the field, Director of South Pars Phases 20 and 21 Development Project was quoted as saying according to POGC Public Relations.

Eng. Seyed Gholamhassan Garshasbi added: “This 1700 tons offshore structure was deployed in the depth of 63m of Persian Gulf waters by one of the state-of-the-art installation vessels after being loaded and shipped from Khorramshahr Yard.”

He referred to the priorities of POGC’s plans in development of the capacities and supporting localization and home production of oil industry upstream industries, “As a result of continuation of this industrial strategy, all engineering, construction and erection works of this structure were carried out by Iranian producers,” he added.

According to Garshasbi, it took 8 months to construct the said offshore structure. “The jacket of Phase 20 is operated in a short period compared to the construction time schedule,” he noted.

Presently, there is an advanced rig on Phase 21 jacket, which is engaged in preparing the site for the drilling operations, and its daily operations monitoring shows that this part of the offshore development phases has maintained a desirable trend since the start of the work, Director of South Pars Phases 20 and 21 Development Project said, speaking about the drilling plan of this part of the joint field.

According to the plans, another drilling rig will be deployed on the under-installation jacket of South Pars Phase 20 at the beginning of the next Iranian year, Garshasebi underscored.

“According to the plans and in case the weather and climatic conditions of the area are stable, full installation operations of South Pars Phase 20 Jacket will be completed within less than the next 10 days,” he added.
