Iran: natural gas output to rise

Iranian Petroleum Minister Bijan Namdar Zanganeh says Iran plans to increase its natural gas production by 200 million cubic meters per day (MMcm/day) by March 2016.

He told that Iran would no longer need to import gas from Turkmenistan as its gas production will increase by 200 MMcm/d by that time.

The Iranian Petroleum Minister, however, said that “although Iran does not need Turkmenistan’s natural gas, economic and political ties with the country are of great importance to Iran.”

He further called for the exports of goods and engineering services to Turkmenistan, adding that Iranian companies are currently able to operate projects worth 700 million dollars to one billion dollars.
