Iran Repels Cyber Attacks on Offshore Platforms

An Iranian official has said that the country’s offshore oil and gas platforms in the Persian Gulf have been attacked by hackers.

He explained that the facilities’ communication systems have been targeted for the past two weeks, but added that the cyber attacks have been repelled successfully.

Mohammad Reza Golshani, head of IT for the Iranian Offshore Oil Company told ISNA: “The attack caused one-way telephone connections to the platforms and the whole company but the ICT unit has managed to nullify the attack.”

According to ISNA, Golshani has blamed Israel and China for the cyber attacks. Israel officials wouldn’t comment on the news, Reuters has reported.
