Iran to Accumulate 2 Bcm of Gas in Sarajeh Storage Facility

Iran will store 2 billion cubic meters of gas in the country’s Sarajeh gas storage facility by the end of the current Iranian calendar year (March 20, 2015), said managing director of the Natural Gas Storage Company.

Masoud Samivand stated that currently over 7 million cubic meters of gas per day is being pumped to the facility.

Sarajeh gas storage facility in the country’s central province of Qom has the capacity to ‎store 1.5 billion cubic meters of gas in its first phase and 3.3 billion cubic ‎meters in the second phase.

Samivand went on to note that Shourijeh gas storage facility will increase the capacity of country’s gas delivery by more than 9 million cubic meters next winter.

Samivand said 4 MMcm/d of gas is currently being injected into the storage facility, adding that the volume will increase to 7.5 MMcm/d in the coming days.

The Shourijeh gas storage facility, located at the northeastern province of Khorasan Razavi, has the capacity to store 4.6 billion cubic meters of natural gas.
