Iran’s South Pars gas recovery to hit 16 bcf/d

Iran’s gas recovery from South Pars gas field is expected to reach 16 billion cubic feet per day (bcf/d) this calendar year to March 2015, managing-director of Pars Oil and Gas Ali-Akbar Shabanpour said.

He said South Pars is currently supplying 11bcf/d of gas, against 23 bcf/d extracted by neighboring Qatar which shares the offshore giant field with Iran.

According to Ali-Akbar Shabanpour, platforms in phases 15, 16 and 18 of South Pars are undergoing nitrogen gas tests.

Efforts are under way for South Pars to add 80 to 100 million cubic meters (MMcm) of sour gas to the country’s gas production capacity, he added.
