Japan: LNG Imports Rise 4.4 Percent in 2012/13

Japan’s LNG imports reached 86.865 million tonnes in the fiscal year that ended in March, up 4.4 percent compared to the same period before, according to trading data.

The ten regional electric power companies in Japan consumed a record 55.79 million tonnes equivalent of LNG in the fiscal year that ended in March.

The country’s monthly LNG imports have been rising steadily year on year, due to the devastating earthquake and tsunami in March 2011.
