Keppel, BG Group named suppliers for LNG bunkering in Singapore

Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) selected Keppel Offshore & Marine and BG Group to supply LNG to vessels bunkering at the port of Singapore.

Following the licence award, the two companies will work on forming a 50-50 joint venture to deliver a bunkering solution using LNG sourced from BG Group’s LNG portfolio, Keppel said in a statement on Wednesday.

Steve Hill, Executive Vice President, Global Energy Marketing and Shipping, BG Group, said, the deliveries are set to start in 2017, in line with MPA’s launch of the LNG bunkering pilot programme.

BG Group is the exclusive aggregator for Singapore and since the start of commercial operations at Singapore LNG Corporation’s liquefied natural gas terminal in May 2013, BG Group delivered 72 cargoes.

MPA revealed at the end of 2014 it will provide funding of up to S$2 million per vessel for up to 6 LNG-fuelled vessels for the pilot programme.
