Kogas sales slide in March

South Korea’s Kogas, the world’s largest corporate buyer of LNG, said its sales volume totaled 3.14 million mt for the month of March, 4.4 percent down on the same month the previous year. 

According to the company’s filing to the stock exchange, gas sales into the power sector reached 1.29 million metric tons, a decrease of 6.7 percent from the same month in 2015.

City gas sales dropped 2.6 percent compared to March 2015, reaching 1.85 million mt of LNG.

In February, the company’s gas sales reached 3.48 million mt.

South Korea imports liquefied natural gas via the Pyeongtaek, Incheon and Tongyeong facilities.

The country is also building the fourth LNG import terminal at Samcheok. Kogas in December completed the first phase of the LNG receiving terminal located some 250 kilometers east of Seoul.
