Linklaters Advises GDF SUEZ on Agreement with CIC (France)

Linklaters has advised GDF SUEZ on the potential acquisition by China Investment Corporation (CIC) of a 30% stake in its Exploration & Production division and of a 10% stake in the LNG Atlantic liquefaction plant in Trinidad and Tobago, for a total amount of €2.9 billion.

GDF SUEZ is in advanced exclusive talks with CIC on the proposed transaction.

This transaction will be subject to conditions precedent being satisfied and will be presented for consultation to GDF SUEZ’s employee representative bodies. The transaction could be finalized by the end of 2011.

The Linklaters cross-border teams were led by Marc Loy (corporate partner) and Marc Petitier and were assisted by Louis-François Guéret and Nicolas Le Guillou in Paris. In London, Iain Wagstaff (corporate partner), assisted by Mark Cooper and Ben Burger, as well as Fiona Hobbs (projects partner), assisted by Rachel Morse, were also involved in the transaction.
