Lundin to Use Bredford Dolphin Rig for North Sea Well

Lundin Petroleum has been given permission by the Petroleum Safety Authority Norway to use the Bredford Dolphin rig in PL 501.

The company will use the Bredford Dolphin semi-submersible drilling rig to drill and perform production testing of wildcat well 16/3-8 S in production licence 501 (Johan Sverdrup) in the Norwegian part of the North Sea.

Drilling is planned to begin in December 2013, with a duration of approximately 45 days.

Bredford Dolphin is owned by Fred Olsen ASA and operated by Fred Olsen’s subsidiary Dolphin AS (Dolphin). The rig is registered in Singapore, with DNV as the classification society. Bredford Dolphin was issued with an Acknowledgement of Compliance (AOC) by the PSA in 2007.
