MacArtney Supplies Winch for MH370 Search

A Mermac R40 winch from MacArtney is to be used in the search for Malaysia Airlines flight MH370 that disappeared two years ago.

The Boeing 777 vanished with 239 passengers and crew during the flight from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing.

Following an intensive search and flight data analysis, it was determined that the plane had diverted south. Since then, resources have been focused on a swathe of the Indian Ocean, about 2000 km west of Australia.

The search for MH370 will be restart in June 2016 by an Australian-based search team. MacArtney informed that the company is supplying Mermac R40 winch for a Benthos deep tow sonar system which will be used on search and rescue vessel Nan Hai Jiu 102.

The winch will be used for the control of the launch, operation and recovery of the Benthos deep tow sonar system.
