Malaysia: Kuantan Port on Right Track

Kuantan Port on Right Track

The Kuantan Port development work should commence soon and is expected to be completed by 2015.

Datuk Seri Lam Kam Sang, the Pahang Associated Chinese Chambers of Commerce and Industry President, stated: “The project to deepen Kuantan Port will benefit the state in the long run and increase transshipment business.”

Located about 25.0 km to the north of Kuantan city and facing South China Sea, Kuantan Port is an important multipurpose port in the East Coast Region of Peninsular Malaysia.

Due to increasing demands on its facilities, KPC had decided to enlarge the berthing basin. The works involve dredging of the new turning basin and disposing of dredge materials to an assigned location as approved by DOE.

Once completed, this project would help to reduce cost of transshipment and cut down travelling time by half,” concluded Lam.
