Metgasco Targeting New Casino Gas Deals

Metgasco announced that it is working with the Pacific Intermodal & Logistics Industrial Park project to facilitate natural gas supply to its proposed industrial estate in Casino.

Pacific Intermodal & Logistics Industrial Park project proposes the establishment of an industrial estate in Casino. The industrial estate, supplied with natural gas, is expected to attract new business and jobs, growing the regional economy.

“Metgasco’s immediate and first priority for gas distribution is to Northern Rivers businesses, such as the proposed new industrial estate in Casino. Providing locally produced gas is also seen as a priority for the NSW Government with the Hon Chris Hartcher MP, Minister for Resources and Energy, recently stating: ‘Domestic gas production can directly lead to domestic jobs and support local businesses.’

It is expected that the site could use 3-4 TJ (Terrajoule) a day or over 1 PJ (“Petajoule”) pa. “Gas can be supplied at a cost significantly below the costs of alternative imported fuels such as diesel and LPG, and more safely,” Peter Henderson, Managing director and CEO said. “Metgasco already has a gas sales agreement with Richmond Dairies and hopes that it can facilitate new business in the area through pipeline supplies to other businesses in Casino and compressed natural gas (CNG) supplies to businesses within a 200km radius of Casino.” Mr Henderson said.
