Mingde Heavy Pens Seven Tankers

Mingde Heavy Pens Seven Tankers

Nantong Mingde Heavy, a fast-growing private-owned enterprise, has signed a new contract under which the yard will build seven eco-friendly 24,000 dwt stainless steel chemical tankers for a European shipowner.

This is the first big deal for high-value added ships signed by any Nantong-based shipyard, with the exception of NACKS, since the financial crisis, SinoShip reports citing local media.

The vessels will be 174.3 m long, 26.8 m wide, with the depth of 13.7 m and designed draft of 9.40 m.

According to the shipbuilder, these newbuilds are designed to run at 14 knots and will consume only 16 metric tonnes of fuel per day.
