New E.ON Combined Gas and Steam Turbine Power Station in Malzenice Starts Commercial Operations (Slovakia)

At the beginning of the year E.ON commenced operations at its new gas and steam turbine power station in Malzenice in Slovakia.

The environmentally friendly and highly efficient plant has a gross electricity output of 430 megawatts and generates more than three billion kilowatt hours annually. This amount of electricity is equivalent to the average consumption of more than 900,000 households. The efficiency of the power station is over 58 percent, thus setting new benchmarks in Slovakian electricity generation.

The Malzenice gas and steam turbine power station can be utilized very flexibly and can thus balance any load fluctuations in the grid reliably and quickly. Therefore, the power station is also making an important contribution to the stability of the Slovakian electricity grid. E.ON has created 35 new permanent jobs in Malzenice at the new power station and has given various contracts to companies in the region. The power station near the Slovakian capital Bratislava was completed on schedule in just 26 months.
