Lundin Gets Clearance to Drill North Sea Well

Lundin Norway AS has received consent to carry out exploration drilling of well 16/4-7 in production licence 544 in the central part of the North Sea using the Bredford Dolphin semi-submersible drilling rig.

The planned start-up is July 2013 with a duration of 21 days, depending on whether a discovery is made.

Bredford Dolphin (photo) is a third-generation semi-submersible drilling rig of the Aker H-3 type. The facility was completed in 1976. Bredford Dolphin is owned by Fred Olsen ASA and operated by Fred Olsen’s subsidiary Dolphin AS (Dolphin). The company’s head office is in Stavanger. The rig is registered in Singapore, with DNV as the classification society.

Bredford Dolphin was issued with an Acknowledgement of Compliance (AOC) by the PSA in 2007.
