Norwegian LNG Ferry Order for Remontowa

Remontowa Shipbuilding of Poland said it has won an order from Norwegian shipping company to build two modern car – passenger ferries.

Delivery of the both vessels is scheduled for the third quarter of 2013.

Contracted ferries of latest generation will be world’s first vessels powered only by LNG fuel, the company said in a statement.

Such resolution will reduce emission of NOx and SOx to the atmosphere, the company added.

Ships will support public transport at the coast of Norway.

It is worth to note that these ships will belong to the largest ones in their class which operate in Norway.

An additional advantage will be low service cost of new built vessels due to reduced to minimum number of the crew and fuel consumption,” the company said.
