Origin to Spud Vietnamese Well in June

Australia’s Origin Energy is getting ready to start drilling an exploration well in the Block 121, offshore Vietnam.

According to Pan Pacific Petroleum, which owns a share in the block,  the “Ocean General” semi-submersible drilling rig is now on tow to the area.

Origin, operator of the block is expected to spud the well at Ca Voi prospect during the first week of June.

Block 121 is an offshore area adjacent to the Vietnam coastline and covers an area close to 8000 km2. It is located over the northern portion of the Phu Khanh Basin and includes the southern extension of the Triton Horst. This is a relatively under-explored but potentially attractive area and has the possibility to contain both oil and gas.
