Origin Updates on Mbawa 1 Offshore Gas Well, Kenya

Origin Energy Limited announced that L8 operator, Apache Corporation, has notified its joint venture partners that the Mbawa 1 well in Kenya’s offshore Lamu basin has reached total depth.

The well was drilled to a depth of 3,150 metres and encountered approximately 51.8 net metres of natural gas pay in three zones.

Origin is encouraged that a reservoir containing hydrocarbons has been discovered and a detailed analysis of subsea information will take place in the coming months to guide future activities in the area.
