Petrobras oil and gas production climbs in Sep

Brazil’s state-owned energy giant Petrobras said its September oil and gas production rose 1.4% as compared to the previous month.

Petrobras oil and natural gas production in September was 2.88 million barrels of oil equivalent per day (boed).

This was a new monthly record, exceeding the August 2016 figure of 2.72 million boed, Petrobras said in its statement on Monday.

Oil and natural gas production operated by Petrobras (own and partners’ share) in the pre-salt set a new record of 1.46 million boed in September, 7.3% more than the previous month.

This result was primarily due to the growth of production in the Lula and Sapinhoá fields, both in the Santos Basin, Petrobras noted in the statement.

Natural gas production in Brazil, excluding liquefied volume, totaled 81.2 million m³/day, 2.2% more than the previous month’s figure of 79.5 million m³/day and a new monthly record.

Natural gas production abroad averaged 9.5 million m³/day, down 2% on August due to the scheduled maintenance stoppage on the platform in the Lucius/Hadrian South fields, in the United States.
