Petrobras oil and gas production down in Aug

Brazil’s state-owned energy giant Petrobras said its August oil and gas production dropped 1.4% due to the sale of assets in Argentina.

Petrobras daily oil and natural gas production in August was 2.84 million barrels of oil equivalent (boed), compared with 2.89 million boed in July.

Of this total, 2.72 million boed were produced in Brazil and 0.12 million boed were produced abroad, Petrobras said in ints statement on Monday.

Brazil hit record oil and gas monthly production in August, accompanied by a record daily average oil production of 2.22 barrels (bpd), according to Petrobras.

In addition, Petrobras reached the new daily volume milestone of 2.33 million bpd on August 19, beating the previous daily record set of 2.30 million bpd in December 2014.

Oil and natural gas production operated by Petrobras in pre-salt fields grew by 4% in August, setting a new monthly record of 1.36 million boed.

The daily natural gas production in Brazil, excluding liquefied volume, was 79.5 million m³, up 0.1% on the previous month, also setting a new monthly record.

Average natural gas production abroad was 9.6 million m³/day, down 40% from the 16 million m³/day produced in the previous month, which was due to the divestment of assets in Argentina, the company noted in the statement.
