Philippines: ADBP Completes Report on Laguna Lake Development

Anthony D Bates Partnership LLP (ADBP) has completed a report for the Belgian company Baggerwerken Decloedt en Zoon, one of the primary operating companies of DEME Group, which provides an independent expert professional review of the Laguna Lake Rehabilitation Project in the Philippines.

The proposed Rehabilitation Project comprised of negating the impacts of the Loss of water depth over the whole area of the lake which has been caused by the accumulation of large volumes of sediment eroded from the upland river catchments (approximately 4million m³/yr over the area of the lake). The primary purpose of the review was to assess the benefits for the Filipino economy and society that the project brings, all in the context of the Laguna’s environment and ecosystems. Suggestions were made concerning possible amendments to the design and proposed method that could improve the project performance.

The principal author of the review was Anthony Bates C.Eng, MICE. He has more than 44 years experience of dredging and river and coastal engineering work gained during work for Development Banks, government agencies, contractors and, for the past 35 years in private consulting practice as Senior Partner in the firm Anthony D Bates Partnership LLP.
