Premier finds no oil in Myrhauk well (Norway)

Premier Oil has found no oil in well 3/7-10 S, in Myrhauk prospect in the Norwegian North Sea.

The well located about 45 kilometres northeast of the Valhall field was drilled with Maersk Guardian rig.

Premier said that the well encountered approximately 110 metres of good reservoir quality Middle Jurassic sands, but those were water wet. The well is being plugged and abandoned as a dry hole.

Premier Oil was given nod by Petroleum Safety Authority Norway (PSA) to use Maersk Guardian rig to drill the well in July.

The well is the first exploration well in production licence PL 539, awarded in APA 2009.

Premier Oil Norge AS is the operator of the licence with an ownership interest of 40%. The other licensees are Suncor Energy Norge AS (20%), DEA Norge AS (12%) and Ithaca Petroleum Norge AS (8%).
