Report: Hazira LNG to expand capacity

India’s Hazira LNG import terminal, owned by Shell and Total, is reportedly planning to raise its capacity by 50 percent to 7.5  million tonnes per annum.

The increase in Hazira LNG capacity from 5 to 7.5 million tonnes a year will become available at the end of year 2016/17, Reuters reported citing a government panel report.

The Hazira LNG terminal, located in the Surat district of Gujarat, was commissioned in April of 2005. It is interconnected with the Hazira-Vijaypur-Jagdishpur line, Dahej-Uran pipeline, Gujarat State Petronet Limited and East West pipelines at Mora, enabling it to supply gas to North, West, Central and even South India.

Shell and Total have a shareholding of 74 percent and 26 percent respectively in the Hazira LNG terminal.
