Revenue from Gas Exports in Iran to Surpass USD 10 Bln Per Year, Says Official

Iran’s revenue from natural gas exports is expected to surpass $10 billion per year, said Iran’s Deputy Oil Minister Javad Owji.

Owji said that Iran would increase its gas exports to nearly 100 million cubic meters per day by the next year, Mehr news agency reported.

“It is anticipated that with the increase of the volume, revenue from gas exports will surpass $10 billion per year,” he said.

The managing director of the National Iranian Gas Company also emphasized that 3 gas export contracts had been signed with Iraq and Pakistan, and that “gas would export to Iraq via two routes to power plants in the cities of Baghdad and Basra.”

“With these two contracts operating, Iran will increase 40 to 45 million cubic meters of gas to its exports daily,” he added.

He also stated that Iran has inked a deal with Pakistan to carry 21.5 mcm per day to its eastern neighbor.

Owji said that Iran’s gas revenues will triple by the next Iranian calendar year and added, “Iran is ready to export gas to all neighboring countries, in particular the Persian Gulf littoral states.”
