Rongsheng Adds Six VLOCs

Rongsheng Heavy Industries, China’s largest private shipbuilder, has signed an order for the construction of up to six very large ore carriers (VLOCs).

The contract, signed with the Hong Kong-based Ocean Line Holdings, represents a substantial breakthrough for the company in the  large-sized bulk carriers segment.

Rongsheng will build 3+3 250,000 dwt vessels slated for delivery between 2015 and 2016.

The VLOCs are in line with low-carbon green product initiative and meets the benchmark requirements on emission reduction set by the International Maritime Organization (IMO), which came into effect as of 1 January 2013.
