Gazprom, BASF Discuss Nord Stream and South Stream

Alexey Miller, Chairman of the Gazprom Management Committee and Kurt Bock, Chairman of the Board of Executive Directors of BASF held a working meeting at the Gazprom headquarters.

Different aspects of cooperation in the oil and gas sector were addressed in the course of negotiations.

The parties have discussed the progress with execution of two large-scale projects, namely Nord Stream and South Stream. Moreover, the meeting paid special attention to joint projects carried out in Russia and to cooperation in Europe.

Alexey Miller and Kurt Bock made a pointed reference to the fact that the end of the current year will see the fifth anniversary of successful cooperation in the frame of Yuzhno-Russkoye field development, which is of strategic importance for natural gas supplies to Europe.

BASF is the world’s leading chemical company. Its business activities are performed along the following primary lines: production of chemicals, synthetic materials, plant protection products, as well as hydrocarbons extraction and transportation.

BASF and Wintershall Holding (wholly owned subsidiary of BASF) partner Gazprom in developing the Achimov deposits of the Urengoyskoye field and the Turonian gas of the Yuzhno-Russkoye field as well as executing the Nord Stream and South Stream projects.

December 18, 2012 will be the fifth anniversary of celebratory inauguration of the Yuzhno-Russkoye field.
