Russia - Yaroslavl Shipyard to Lay Down Keel for First Serial of Air Cavity Landing Boat

First serial air cavity landing boat Denis Davydov (Project 21820 Dugon) will be laid down at Yaroslavl Shipyard on Jan 18, reported RIA Novosti on Tuesday referring to a spokesman for Russian Navy.

Lead boat of the project named Ataman Platov was laid down in Feb 2006 and has been serving in Caspian Flotilla since 2009.

“Keel-laying ceremony of the first serial air cavity landing boat Denis Davydov will take place at JSC Yaroslavl Shipyard on Jan 18 and will be attended by representatives of Defense Ministry and Russian Navy command”, said the official.

The interviewee specified that ships of such project would increase effectiveness and mobility of Russian Navy’s landing assault troops.

The project was developed by the Alekseyev Hydrofoil Ship Central Design Bureau (Nizhny Novgorod).
