Sovcomflot’s 2015 profit soars

Russia’s largest shipping company Sovcomflot on Monday said its net profit for the year 2015 reached US$354.5 million.

This is a 76.3 percent jump compared to $83.9 million a year before, the company said in its report.

The company’s gross revenue (freight and hire) for the year ended 31 December 2015 increased by 7.6 percent to $1,48 billion from $1,37 billion in 2014.

Gas transportation

Time charter equivalent (TCE) revenues for SCF’s overall transportation business for the year increased by 18.8 percent to $1.24 billion from $1.04 billion in 2014.

The company’s TCE revenues for the gas transportation business increased by 65.3 percent to $137.5 million from $83.2 million for the previous year.

Sovcomflot took delivery of two 170,200 m3 cargo capacity LNG carriers, the SCF Melampus and SCF Mitre during the year, both of which are chartered to Shell on a long-term deal.

Sovcomflot added that it has one ice-breaking Arctic LNG carrier on order at Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering set for delivery by January 2017.
