Statoil prepares for wildcat duo on Krafla

The Norwegian Petroleum Directorate (NPD) has granted Statoil Petroleum drilling permits for two wells, well 30/11-11 S and well 30/11-11 B, offshore Norway. 

Both wells will be drilled from Songa Offshore’s Songa Delta drilling rig and in production licence 035, Krafla, in the Norwegian section of the North Sea.

The drilling programme for both wells relates to the drilling of wildcat wells.

The well 30/11-11 S is the tenth exploration well to be drilled in the licence area, while the well 30/11-11 B is the eleventh exploration well to be drilled in the licence area.

Statoil is the operator with an ownership interest of 50 per cent. Det norske oljeselskap is a licensee, with an ownership interest of 50 per cent.

The area in this licence consists of a part of block 30/11. Production licence 035 was awarded in licensing round 2-A on November 14, 1969.
